Be smart about what you reveal online. Here’s how to tighten the settings on Facebook to protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized use of your personal information.

Here’s how:

1. Log in to your Facebook account.
2. Choose the tab Privacy.
3. Change all the settings listed in either “My Friends Only” or “No”.
4. Make sure the wall option is set to “No”, otherwise Facebook can sell your picture to advertisers (without their explicit permission and without control over the nature of the ads).
5. In the past, Facebook introduced privacy features threat with a default “opt-in” impact. Make it a point to periodically check the profile settings so that nothing is revealed outside the network chosen friends.
